A wipe used to mean a global reset of all players' progress: level, stash and quests started over. With the release of version 1.0 this changed: the official FAQ states plainly that wipes in the usual sense have been abolished.

What replaces wipes

Seasons. Since patch 1.1.0.0 there are seasons — a time-limited PvP mode on a separate character and separate servers. The seasonal character starts with the starting gear of its edition, and seasonal rewards stay permanently on all of the player's characters.
Manual reset. You can reset your own progress in account settings, separately for PvE and PvP.
Prestige. Another way to start over with bonuses; for PvE since patch 1.2.0.0 up to half of skills and weapon mastery are kept.

What is always kept

Purchased expansions and PvE access — according to official sources they are not reset. We did not find a detailed official list of exactly what gets reset in a season or a manual reset, so we do not give one.

Questions and answers

Will there be a wipe in Tarkov?

After the 1.0 release the usual global wipes are gone. Instead there are seasons on a separate character and a manual progress reset.

What is a season in Tarkov?

A time-limited PvP mode on a separate character and servers, introduced in patch 1.1.0.0. Seasonal rewards stay on all characters.

Is PvE reset on wipe?

No, PvE Zone is built for persistent progress; you can only reset it yourself.
